Harrison Malayalam Limited in Achoor welcomes tourists with a bunch of varieties to enjoy the beauty of the tea plantation with a delicious cup of tea. Here, we can experience the fabulous beauty of plantations, the production of tea and adventure tourism here.

Achoor - The Tea Tourism Hub

The company directly promotes tea tourism in Wayanad Achoor by arranging a tea museum, factory tour and plantation visit under one roof. They converted the estate hospital to 'Ward 80' dormitory, renovated bungalow accommodation and hut stay are the other attractions of Achoor tea tourism. For those who like adventure tourism, zip line and trekking are arranged. Achoor Plantation also offer a different travel experience to locals and foreigners who visit Wayanad.

The Tea Museum

The Harrison Malayalam Limited’s tea museum is situated at Achoor near Pozhuthana. The orginal tea factory was built in 1911 with wooden and iron panels and has been converted into a museum by the Harrison management. Harrison's various estates in Kerala contain a handful of relics of the British colonial era. All these objects have been collected and exhibited to tourists. The first floor of the three-story museum houses historical documents related to the Boston Tea Party Revolution in America and records of the company's 100-year legacy. Various tea verities were exhibited on the third floor. Along with that, different value-added tea products are also prepared. A tea tasting facility has also been arranged for tourists. Travelers can visit the museum every day from 8 am to 6 pm, the fee is Rs 100 per person. We can spend 45 minutes and also access the photo points of the museum with a guide’s assistance.

The Factory Tour

Achoor Tea Factory is one of the largest tea factories in South India. Travelers have the opportunity to see the production of tea and buy the preferred tea powder from factory outlets. Visiting time is restricted from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8 am to 6 pm. We can spend 30 minutes here with the assistance of a guide.

Tea Garden – Welcome to the Green Paradise

The tea gardens are an eye-feast for every traveler. The geography of Achoor will surprise you with its greenish beauty. An experienced guide will accompany you to introduce the activities of planting to plucking the tea. There is a chance to take photographs with plantation workers. Visiting hours are restricted Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm. The fee is Rs 100 per person.

Ward 80 Plantation Stay – A nice ‘budget roof’
'Ward 80 Plantation Stay' is a safe, clean and affordable place for budget travelers. The accommodation is located in the middle of a tea plantation. It’s an appropriate facility for students, women and other tourists. There are a bunch of single rooms along with the dormitory. Once, the building was a hospital with 80 beds. The management converted this to Ward 80. From December 2021, a private company will take over the facility and run successfully. The charge is Rs 800 per person, including food. Jeep service is available from Chunda, to reach the estate.
